 >:\n\n2-day Hands-On Workshop\n\n<b>Course Description</b>:\n\nOn the 
 road toward sustainability, we often overlook an opportunity with trem
 endous environmental impact – our existing homes. With simple and co
 st-effective improvements, we can significantly reduce energy use whil
 e simultaneously improving indoor air quality and comfort. Updating ex
 isting homes should be at the top of our energy solutions list.\n\nIn 
 this two-day hands-on class, learn how to assess, prioritize, and impl
 ement improvements from general contractor, recovering straw bale buil
 der, and building science expert, Bill Lucas, owner of Colorado based 
 GB3 Energy Solutions. Topics from identifying common air leakage and i
 nsulation issues, to distinguishing what improvement are cost effectiv
 e, and what are just costly.\n\n<b>Instructor Bio</b>:\n\nBill Lucas i
 s an experienced green builder and licensed general contractor who bel
 ieves passionately that efficiency is first. Bill is co-founder of GB3
  Energy Solutions and currently works throughout Colorado making exist
 ing homes more comfortable, healthy, and energy independent by improvi
 ng energy fundamentals – air sealing and insulation – believing th
 at the best heating and cooling system is one that is not used.\nBill 
 is a Building Performance Institute Certified Professional, a LEED Acc
 redited Professional, a licensed RESNET Home Energy Rater, a NAHB Gree
 n Building Program Verifier, and a graduate of CSU’s first Green Bui
 lding Certificate Course.\nOriginally lured into green building by str
 aw bale homes in the early 1990s, Bill has managed and/or built a numb
 er of progressive homes, including two featured on the cover of the Bo
 ulder Green Building Journal and one on the front page of Conservation
  Magazine. Bill holds a BA in Japanese and a BS in Environmental Biolo
 gy from the University of Colorado. Bill has lived in Colorado since 1
 972 and currently lives in Northwest Denver in a near net-zero 1921 br
