Today is the start of the second week. I was quite proud I made it through the weekend with out eating meat. Even under the effects of things that impair decisions I was still able to choose the vegetarian option. It has taken longer to order and pick out groceries because I have to search for the vegetarian meal. They are not right smack in the center of grocery store with lights highlighting their colorful packaging. They are found in corners and in the bottom of aisles. Since I still eat cheese, I have been putting slices on meatless burger patties and it comes out just fine. I have tasted a patty with no cheese and condiments, to get a better idea of the taste and it is alright but if I add ketchup or bbq sauce to a meat burger why not a meatless burger. Most of the food products I have found have less fat and much less protein, and higher amounts of carbs. I would also say that many of the products I would never try unless I was involved with this project.
I have been ridiculed by my omnivorous friends. Many simple ask "why" others are afraid I have turned to the dark side and will never return. Some have teased me with their food asking if I want some just to get a giggle. A few vegetarian friends continue to tell me what types of food to eat and have made me meals, which has been sweet! Plus I didn't know how to cook tofu, its like tuna, drain and then eat.
In all I feel good, I have past test one; get through the weekend. I figured if I can do the first I can do the rest!
