For my environmental practice I will continue my practice of veganism that I have been practicing for two years. This is environmental because animal agriculture requires a heavy amount of land, water, and other resources that would be used for human consumption. Animal waste is also a cause of pollution to our groundwater and rivers and is a cause of acid rain from ammonia emissions, greenhouse gas production, and depletion of aquifers for irrigation. Animal agriculture also accelerates topsoil erosion and forces a need to turn wilderness into farmland. As a vegan I will not be contributing to those effects and I will also not be supporting animal abuse. Because I have been doing this for two years I have no excuses to skip it. I will keep a journal of quotes I get from people about my lifestyle and will use the readings and lectures from this class to see how it effects my environmental views. To track my practice quantitatively I will record how much I spend a week on food and calculate my carbon footprint. I will also keep track of what I eat. To illustrate the practice I will document all the receipts I spend toward food and include pictures of what I ate.
